Entrepreneurship among young adults is on the rise, yet there’s a greater need to nurture this train of thought among elementary and secondary students as a viable alternative to those young intellects with independent spirits.
Not everyone is called to be a doctor, a lawyer, Governor of Georgia or even the President of the United States of America. However, the opportunity to be a part of a growing global trend exist for students right here in Georgia among institutions such as Youth Entrepreneurs of Atlanta, South West Atlanta Youth Business Organization, 100 Black Men of Atlanta and the Greater Atlanta Economic Alliance, TDC, and the Atlanta Chinese Community Center.
Recognizing this opportunity, the Georgia Minority Business Awards in conjunction with Georgia-Pacific and sponsored by Pepsi Bottling Group is pleased to introduce its newest multi-cultural recognition forum – the “10 Young Entrepreneurs” Award. It’s imperative for us as parents and educators to instill the importance of education not forgetting our children’s character.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. summed it up rather appropriately when he spoke these words, “Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”. Tonight, ten rising young students have taken up the challenge and begun the process of entrepreneurship and the awards committee would like to recognize at this time the following young entrepreneurs whom merit recognition for the courage in pursuing their piece of the American dream.
